With 1 World Trade Center set to reclaim the Manhattan sky today, we thought it would be interesting to look at how far the tower has progressed since construction began:

1 World Trade Center is slated for a 2015 completion date, and will boast 104 stories (2 more than the Empire State Building).

I live in Brooklyn and see the new tower all the time. It’s beautiful and poignant. The other buildings that have gone or are going up are also amazing. The new skyline is shiny and reflects the sky and sun, and it truly looks like a city of the future. When I leave this place I will miss those views like crazy. There really is nowhere like it. If you come visit during the spring/summer/fall take the free ferry to Governors Island and scope the Freedom Tower from there. It’s amazing!

I am so proud of NYC and everything it is, and represents, I could cry a river of tears for all that has been lost and regained in the greatest city on earth. God bless all who lost their lives as a result of the 911 attacks, and all their loved ones. God bless New York City. God bless the world. What better name could this new amazing skyscraper have than The Freedom Tower? It is a beacon of hope for every human being on earth. It truly represents the spirit of what America is.

I WAS IN NYC OVER WEEKEND OF 08/17/2012 FREEDOM TOWER WAS SO AWESOME TO SEE UP CLOSE. GOD IS SO GOOD, THE PEOPLE OF NY ARE THE BEST AND THEIR SPIRIT IS ALWAYS HIGH.

NYC is more beautiful in person. Since 911 I was very moved and awed at the people of New York. They, the people of New York are very resilient and awesome. I have always wanted to go to New York since coming from Italy in 1958 I was only there for a short time and since alot of our family landed in New York I always felt part of it. Since 911 I have been to New York two times and I was immediately drawn to ground zero. I felt the goose bumps on my skin just being there and seeing all of the workers (iron workers) going back and forth some leaving and others coming. I felt proud being an American and above all , being in New York where the people are very special. God bless New Yorkers and America.

I am 13 years old and not really obsessed with skyscrapers, but I love this one. I live in flushing, NY and I go to manhattan a lot, and trust me whoever is planning a trip, you will be brought to tears as I was. Plus it is REALLY tall.

I was a child when the 1st towers went up & would be brought there by my father. He was a union rep. & at the time 1 tower was only a few dozen floors above ground & the other was still just a hole in the earth. I think, along with so many other new Yorkers. That 2 new buildings with todays tecnology shoulda been built on the site & replicated the looks of the 2 towers that were taken from our skys. It isn’t about not being able to move on, it is about fixing the skyline to what it was, so we coulda felt that what those evil men did. wasn’t unfixable. They have gotten the satisfaction knowing that the people in charge of the site, was to terrified to put those original towers back into the sky that they took from us.

Doesn’t get more inspiring than that. I, too, am planning a trip to see this monument in person.
