The Today Show’s Matt Lauer takes a trip to the construction site of the new Freedom Tower, or 1 World Trade Center. He talks to the architect of the building, discussing the structural differences between the new tower and the old World Trade Center Towers.

They make their way to the current top floor, the 76th, and we get some great shots of what NYC will look like from the top.

When completed, the tower will reach 1776 feet to the top spire.

  1. Linda Johnson Says:

AWESOME! The thought and detail that went into this is nothing short of remarkable! Thank you Conde Nast for investing in our future; I’m sure many more will follow. I would love to have my office in these towers to demonstrate my courage, resilience, and faith in our democracy.
I salute each and every iron worker, construction worker, glazer, architect, planner, port authorty person, and all unmentioned who are involved in this project. You brought one of the saddest days of my life (as an American) back to life with this beautiful rendition of the new One World Trade Center (and the surrounding buildings. Thank you Steven Spielberg for the behind the scenes look into the stories of all involved; Rising; Rebuilding Ground Zero is compelling!
See you in the future for an 8:46 sunrise (to catch the rays pointing down)! This will be the reason for my return visit to New York; I would not go prior to pay homage to the empty hole left by the terrorists; I will definitely come back to pay homage to freedom and democracy in action!!
