World Trade Center Run To Remember Goes Well

The World Trade Center Run to Remember received a good turnout this weekend. On Sunday, an estimated 1,000 or so people showed up to cover five kilometers and, in many cases, raise money for charity.
This race, which was organized by Tom Biggers, a retired NYPD sergeant, was the first to go by its specific name. According to what Biggers told Lore Croghan, it was meant to honor civilians who died on September 11th on the grounds that they may not have received as much recognition as members of the fire and police departments.
Run to Remember participants generally ran (or walked) in honor of loved ones or friends; many wore pictures or other tokens to signify the connections. Fundraising for 9/11 charities represented a significant part of the day’s events, too.
As for some more concrete details, the race took place on Governor’s Island in the New York Harbor. Also, a positive problem of sorts cropped up as the start was delayed by about 40 minutes in order to accommodate another ferry full of people.
A different race along the same lines - this one known as the Tunnel to Towers Run - is scheduled to take place on September 27th.
