Silverstein, Port Authority Remain Stuck

Well, another few days have passed, but apparently not much has been accomplished.  The Port Authority and Larry Silverstein remain at odds over who’s responsible for financing different aspects of the World Trade Center project.

This may be a shorter-than-usual post since the word “deadlock” doesn’t take up too much space and the construction process has been otherwise uneventful.

Still, Charles V. Bagli contributed a bit of pertinent info by writing the other day, “Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, who convened the sessions on May 21, had set a June 11 deadline for the parties to reach an agreement.”

So there may be another public call to action in the near future, anyway, and it’s hard not to think that sooner or later, the pressure to get the Freedom Tower finished will force an agreement to be reached.

Or perhaps there will be a real bailout of some sort, since both regular people and politicians would probably agree that the Freedom Tower is more important than many failing businesses.
