Freedom Tower Blueprints Found In Trash
You would hope that Freedom Tower blueprints are being kept under lock and key. At least two sets were just under a bit of waste, however, as a homeless man found them in a public trashcan.
Mike Fleming took the blueprints to The New York Post, and the story broke from there. Jeremy Olshan and Kevin Fasick report that “Secure Document - Confidential” is printed across each of the 300 or so pages.
At a time when shredders can be obtained for $20 from Wal-Mart, any mistakes that led to this development are disturbing. Worse yet is the thought the plans were intentionally placed in an open garbage bin. Only a small bit of comfort comes from the facts that the blueprints were out of date and lacking in detail.
A Port Authority investigation aims to find out who was responsible. “Violating these protocols is cause for serious disciplinary action - up to termination for employees and breach of contract and legal action for contractors,” Candace McAdams, the Port Authority’s director of media relations, told The Post.
No new security measures have been put in place.
