Port Authority Leases Office Space
Construction on the Freedom Tower is coming along, but the question of what will inhabit the area may remain. An answer that holds true for at least 600,000 square feet of the space: the Port Authority.
The Port Authority was, of course, closely tied to the original World Trade Center, and remains connected to the site. It and Silverstein Properties haven’t always gotten along as the rebuilding process has progressed.
Still, the two entities seem to have reached an accord in this one area, at least. Stephen Del Percio reports, “Silverstein Properties will be the agency’s landlord at 150 Greenwich Street, where the Port Authority has signed a lease for 600,000 square feet at $59 per square feet.”
The lease should be good for 15 years.
The Port Authority’s gesture should help encourage other former WTC inhabitants to return to the site, and new agencies can be counted on to follow suit.
